Lab Research Professional 2
This role supports the Principal Investigator in coordinating people, processes, equipment, and information systems to keep a biomedical engineering laboratory running safely and efficiently. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, maintaining instruments, managing inventory, enforcing lab protocols, the lab manual, and lab policies, and ensuring compliance with institutional and Environmental Health and Safety requirements. This role manages and supports the principal investigator in purchasing, vendor relationships, operational budgeting, and contributes to grant-related financial tracking and allowable-expense oversight.
It also resolves day-to-day issues across wet-lab, dry-lab, and animal-protocol activities. In addition, this role conducts independent bench research involving experimental design, execution, and data analysis.
The Lab Research Professional 2 is responsible for conducting and managing research activities across various disciplines. They design and implement studies, support research activities, analyze data, and contribute to advancing knowledge and innovation in their respective fields. This role is responsible for conducting experiments and analyses in laboratory settings to investigate scientific questions in fields like biology, chemistry, and physics. Laboratory researchers design and execute experiments, collect data, and collaborate with scientists to advance understanding of fundamental and applied research.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education:
Bachelor's degree required. - Experience:
3+ years of relevant experience required.
Physical Demands This position can spend extensive periods of time standing and squatting while conducting experiments or caring for animals. Also requires keyboarding and other bench work and animal procedures requiring finer finger manipulation.
Salary Range The anticipated hiring range is $70,000-$85,000, commensurate with education and experience.
Position Type & Work Location This is an exempt-level, benefited position. Learn more about UVA benefits. This is a restricted position, which is dependent on funding and is contingent upon funding availability. This position is based in Charlottesville, VA, and must be performed fully on-site.
