Research Associate in Physics

The Department of Physics, at the University of Virginia invites applications for a postdoctoral research associate position to work in the laboratory of Dr. Kent Paschke.

The successful candidate will join a team with nuclear, accelerator, and data scientists to develop machine learning methods with particle detector and beamline monitor data to improve control of beam properties relevant to the MOLLER experiment. Responsibilities will include preparing for efficient data analysis, simulations of the experimental apparatus, coordinating measurements and analysis between accelerator and MOLLER collaboration personnel, and mentoring graduate students engaged in this research.

This position will be based at Jefferson Lab in Newport News, Virginia.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in experimental subatomic physics with accelerated beams or a closely related field by the starting date. Priority will be given to candidates with a track-record of initiative and leadership, as well as experience with precision measurements, data analysis,

software development, simulation, or accelerator physics.
