Research Assistant/Associate
Youth-Nex Research Professional 2 (Staff Wage)
Youth-Nex, UVA Center to Promote Effective Youth Development, seeks an hourly or wage Research Professional
2. This position will contribute to a range of tasks, including, but not limited to, provide research support across projects focused on youth mental health and technology. The ideal candidate will be able to support projects through data management and analytics.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and assist with data cleaning, organization, quality assurance, and preparation of research datasets.
- Support data collection, including preparation, organization, and documentation of research materials.
- Lead and assist with data analysis, including coding and organization of data and participation in consensus or research team discussions as appropriate.
- Lead and assist with maintaining organized and accurate project records, research materials, and documentation.
- Prepare and organize research data and materials for analysis and project deliverables.
- Participate in research team meetings and communicate regularly with project staff regarding progress, questions, and challenges.
- Develop and follow established research protocols and procedures, including requirements related to data security, confidentiality, and research integrity.
- Complete other research-related tasks as assigned in support of ongoing project activities.

- Ability to organize, manage, and maintain accurate research data and documentation.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently while seeking guidance when needed.
- Interest in research related to mental health, education, prevention, or related fields.
This position involves a combination of independent research responsibilities and collaborative work with faculty, research staff, and other project team members. Specific responsibilities may vary based on project needs and timelines.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
Bachelor's degree
Experience:
Three years of relevant experience. Master's degree will be considered in lieu of experience. Licensure:
None.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
Master's degree with additional coursework.
Experience:
- Prior experience with research, data coding, data management, and research.
- Experience working in education research or clinical/school psychology.
- Experience with data analysis and/or statistical software.
- Experience writing for academic peer-reviewed publications.
- Experience working on research projects or clinical work involving children, adolescents, families, educators, or schools.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
Hourly Rate: $26-28 Anticipated
