- Lead by example as a positive force to promote our culture to staff and customers alike.
- Constructively hold shop staff accountable to Grit Coffee’s service and operating standards.
- Promote and support coffee culture and curiosity among all staff members, including knowledge of coffee varieties and brewing techniques and knowledge of the full menu and variations.
- Conduct barista training for new hires at the shop in accordance with guidance from the Regional Manager.
- Communicate constructively and effectively with shop staff, Regional Manager and other Grit management on staff questions and concerns, shop needs, facility needs, supplies, customer feedback.
- Gain a general understanding of the Square POS, online ordering, and loyalty systems.
- Create and publish a weekly staffing schedule using the When I Work app/website.
- Communicate with staff about keeping availability updated in When I Work.
- Monitor and maintain appropriate staffing levels at each shop according to level of business.
- Communicate staffing needs to the Regional Manager and Human Resources.
- Conduct first round interviews for baristas.
- Place orders within established deadlines for all goods and supplies required for normal operations of the shop and maintaining inventory.
- Conduct regular equipment maintenance in accordance with guidance from the Regional Manager and assist in equipment troubleshooting and communication thereof as needed.
- Attend scheduled Shop Lead/management meetings.
- Coordinate TAB events with the Regional Manager and the Retail Sales & Marketing Manager.
- Aware of Uva events and prepares staff and shops for the influx of customers that surround these events.
- Has completed or will complete their level 2 barista test (Current Grit Employees)

This is an hourly leadership role. The hourly rate will depend on the location where the Shop Lead is working. Time will be split between the two locations.
Elliewood - $14/hr + Tips (average tip rate is $8-$9 more per hour)

Shop Leads must maintain at least 4 bar shifts per week and 1 administrative day per week to average 30+ hours per week.
Most Shop Lead shifts range from 6-8 hours.
Opening shifts start at 6:30am.
Closing shifts end at or around 5:30pm.
Hours of OperationElliewood - 7 days a week 7am-5pm.
