The primary responsibility of the District Manager (DM) is to develop, implement and lead business strategies for revenue growth within the defined service area. This position will maintain, communicate, and encourage a firm understanding of the company’s sales strategies and tactics while continuing to develop and maintain mutually beneficial relationships that allow for growth and development of the business.
The DM must be knowledgeable in Arthrex’s extensive product offerings, including but not limited to techniques, features, benefits, and value proposition.
Essential Responsibilities
Manage and coach assigned sales force to achieve sales and profit goals within the assigned areaAchieve sales goals and key business metrics in the assigned territory by executing the territory’s business strategiesWork with sales force to identify customer needs and propose creative solutions that align with business objectives and guidelines, including pricing/billing in line with company policiesPlan, coordinate and ensure engagement at sales meetings andCompile and deliver sales reportsRecommend products and methodologies to surgeonsManage relationships with key stakeholders at accounts within designated territoryParticipate in activities necessary to help train surgeons on the technical use of the products, including cadaveric labs, as necessary to maintain quality customer relationshipsIdentify and understand market trends, surgeon preferences, competitive strategies, etc. and use this knowledge to implement business plansComplete all educational courses required by leadershipRespond to the needs of the sales organization via email, phone and field visitsAssist with covering surgical cases, as neededWork cross functionally with other agency and corporate teams to accomplish objectivesThe above statements describe the general nature and level of work being performed as a DM. Requirements
Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent relevant experienceThree plus years’ experience in medical device salesProven success in people managementCompletion of Sports Initial Onsite Training (IOT) and Distal Extremities IOT, ECI Program Training, Technology Consultant Training, plus at least 2 advanced training coursesSignificant demonstrated success in case coverage of sports medicine, distal extremities, arthroplasty, and trauma product linesSuccessful completion of Sports Medicine Intermediate Training prior to or within 4 months of start dateSuccessful completion of Distal Extremities Intermediate Training prior to or within 4 months of start dateSuccessful completion of Arthroplasty Intermediate Training prior to or within 4 months of start dateSuccessful completion of ECI Training prior to or within 12 months of start dateAdaptability and critical thinking skillsProblem-solving skills and ability to provide action-oriented solutionsEmbody and demonstrate a competitive spiritSelf-motivated with strong organizational and time management abilitiesExcellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skillsValid driver’s license, clean driving record and reliable transportationResilience and adaptability in a competitive sales environmentWillingness and ability to travel frequentlyProficiency in using Microsoft Office and smart phone technologyWork EnvironmentThe DM is a field-based role and will spend a lot of time travelling to meetings, hospitals and practices to support the team and fulfill daily responsibilities. The DM will be constantly interacting, problem solving, and adapting to the needs of the team, healthcare providers, and the business.
Physical Requirements Sitting for Long Periods:
Drive time between surgery sites and meetings can be extensive; due to locations of training, meetings and functions, periodic airline travel is required.Standing for Long Periods: time in the operating room or product demonstrations require standing so they can observe and engage with medical professionals.Lifting & Carrying:
Medical devices can range from small tools to heavy equipment, requiring AMs to transport and set up displays or training materials (up to 50 lbs.)Walking Between Locations:
In large hospitals or medical facilities, DMs may need to walk extensively to visit different departments.Dexterity & Fine Motor
Skills:
