Safety& Security Supervisor (Armed) Purpose
The Safety and Security Supervisor plays a critical role within the department. They are responsible for overseeing and supervising day-to-day activities, maintaining a safe environment for our visitors and employees, and assisting the Director of Safety & Security to ensure the overall success of the department and the completion of mission essential tasks and goals. The Safety and Security Supervisor must exhibit honesty, trustworthiness, respect, loyalty, empowerment, discipline, leadership, flexibility, and an expectation of high work standards for self and supervised employees while performing all job duties.
Wewill look to you to:
- Manage the daily operational activities of the department to ensure the safety and security of all employees and visitors, and to prevent loss or damage to collections, facilities, and equipment.
- Responsible for resolving, or assisting in the resolution of, department, Foundation, or visitor related issues and / or complaints.
- Tasked with developing and strengthening working relationships within the department, as well as with other Foundation departments and staff.
- Acts as the on-site senior department representative in the absence of the Director of Safety & Security.
- Supervises all full-time Security Officers, including Shift Leads.
- Review and process Officer Vacation / PTO / Leave requests in a timely manner.
- Develop, in consultation with Director of Safety and Security, implement, and maintain extensive procedures for line-level staff.
- Utilize computer software to develop and maintain operations logs, records, and schedules.
- Ensure that operational, personnel, and payroll records for FT & armed Security Officers (timecard submissions and approvals) are established and maintained appropriately.
- Assists the Director of Safety & Security with financial management by controlling direct labor, overtime, PTO / time off, and uniform expenses within the department.
- Assist the Director of Safety & Security in the creation, and presentation, of safety training programs.
- Performs personnel evaluations and disciplinary actions for all FT & armed Safety & Security Officers, coaches and counsels staff for performance improvement. Confers with the Director of Safety & Security, as well as Human Resources representative(s) prior to counseling or corrective action being given. Forwards all documentation of coaching, counseling, and other disciplinary action(s) to the appropriate Human Resources representative.
- Assisting with the recruitment of FT Safety & Security Officers in accordance with Foundation recruiting policy.
- Communicates with the Director of Safety & Security regarding maintenance, safety, and security conditions.
- Oversees the scheduling of all Security Officer shift coverage and training in coordination with the Safety & Security Systems and Special Events Supervisor (“SSSSES”).
- Provides ongoing training to all Safety & Security staff as needed or as directed.
- Conducts post inspections.
- Fills in as needed when there are unexpected absences or need for additional front-line assistance from Safety & Security staff.
- Shares the rotating duty of being on call for after-hours reporting by Security Officers.
- Observe and monitor Safety & Security staff on duty to ensure they are complying with policies and procedures and covering assigned areas.

- Set and maintain a standard of appearance and performance for all Safety & Security staff.
