General Labor, Installation Technician
Overview
Full-time | Residential & Light Commercial | Charlottesville area
Who we’re looking for: We want someone who’s serious about building a career in the trades—not just picking up a paycheck. If you show up on time, work hard all day, take pride in doing things the right way, and you’re willing to study on your own to advance, you’ll do well here. HVAC experience helps, but it’s not the deciding factor.
Work ethic, attitude, and coachability are.
You’ll work alongside lead installers and learn the trade by doing it. That includes the “scut work”—because that’s part of earning trust, building habits, and becoming valuable on a crew.
- Assist with installing furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, air handlers, and ductwork
- Stage equipment, load/unload trucks, organize materials, keep jobs moving
- Run tools and parts, set up job sites, protect customer property, clean as you go
- Learn basic troubleshooting and system fundamentals from experienced techs
- Follow safety procedures and jobsite standards every day
- Communicate professionally with homeowners and team members
- Complete photos, checklists, and paperwork accurately (we run a tight process)
This role includes cleaning and maintenance duties around the shop and on the truck. A clean shop and a clean, organized truck are part of being a professional.
- Keep the shop area, staging areas, and work spaces clean and organized
- Keep trucks clean, stocked, and ready (tools, fittings, fasteners, consumables)
- Help with keeping materials in the right place
- Leave job sites and customer homes cleaner than you found them
At times, you may assist on service calls when a service technician needs an extra set of hands. That’s also a strong learning opportunity.
- Help with access, carrying equipment, setup/cleanup, and basic tasks as directed
- Observe and learn troubleshooting and customer communication
- Reliable transportation is required. Apprentices must be able to get to and from job sites on their own when needed (including early starts).
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs, work in attics/crawlspaces, climb ladders, work outdoors
- Dependable, coachable, and willing to learn
- Basic hand/power tool familiarity is helpful
- HVAC/construction background is a plus, not required
- Preferred: EPA 608 license (we can help you get it if you don’t have it)
- Competitive pay with a clear growth path
- Training and real mentorship—not “figure it out” culture
- Health, dental, life, and vision insurance and retirement benefits
- Uniforms
- Steady work year-round
- A team that values respect, professionalism, and smart tradecraft
- Advancement for people who earn it (we promote from within). We have a structured pay plan to advance your pay based on your measurable results.
