HVAC Service Technician Apprentice; union

Johnson Controls Inc is looking for forward-thinking talent to join our growing organization.

• Provide customers with the highest level of service to solve building inefficiencies and resolve service‑related items.
• Act as a trusted advisor, delivering solutions and outcomes at the time of service.

• Attend Apprentice School 2 nights a week in Richmond.
• Receive training and perform work on HVAC mechanical equipment and controls on client sites.
• Participate in certified training through the Service Technical Academy to build skill sets that enable continued recognition, monetary rewards, and advancement.
• Develop skills through coaching and mentorship to troubleshoot and resolve both technical issues and customer needs.
• Keep JCI, contractors, and customers advised of job progress and issues as needed.
• Meet attendance requirements for required Union training during the first year.
• Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure facilities run efficiently, including upselling opportunities, and provide quotes to support those recommendations.

• Must be a member or willing to join the local union.
• Tech savvy, using AI tools and handheld devices.
• General knowledge of mechanical HVAC systems, facilities management systems, site preparation, and peripheral equipment installation and servicing techniques.
• Effective interpersonal skills to properly represent Johnson Controls to customers and other outside contacts in an ethical and professional manner.
• Leadership skills to support the activities of mechanics working on non‑complex, non‑critical mechanical HVAC equipment on a job site.
• Self‑starter with the ability to eventually work independently.
• Prioritize safety in all forms.
• Valid driver’s license required.

• 1–2 years of trade school or college with a technical emphasis.

Pay Range: $19.80 hourly rate determined by CBA/rate sheet.

Benefits are provided through a local labor union aligned with a collective bargaining agreement.
