Day in the Life
  • Assemble, install, and repair pipes, fittings, and fixtures of domestic water, and drainage systems, according to specifications and plumbing codes.
  • Cut and thread pipe, using necessary tools (pipe cutters, port‑a‑band saw, reciprocating saw, torch, pipe‑threading machine).
  • Assemble and install valves, pipe fittings, and pipes composed of metals such as iron, steel, brass, and copper, and nonmetals such as glass, vitrified clay, and plastic, using hand tools and power tools.
  • Join pipes by use of proper supplies (screws, fittings, solder, brazing, grooving, plastic solvent).
  • Assist with sheet metal products and ductwork for commercial projects as well as assist with any other tasks needed to complete the project.
Qualifications
  • Journeyman or Master’s license (preferred, but not required).
  • Backflow License (preferred, but not required).
  • Med‑Gas Certification (preferred, but not required).
  • Completion of applicable trade school (preferred, but not required).
  • Experience with layouts.
  • Knowledge of International Plumbing Code (IPC) and general safety regulations.
