Groundsperson
The Groundsperson supports the crew by performing work from the ground including clearing brush and trees as directed, and performing clean-up on each job site. Essential functions include following and helping enforce safe practices and rules, keeping work area clear of debris, using various tools to clear undergrowth, loading and unloading trucks, performing general clean-up of job sites, carrying, preparing, and storing materials, setting up and breaking down road signs, flagging traffic, driving trucks or operating other equipment, performing basic maintenance service on trucks and equipment, safeguarding employees and public from hazards, and performing duties for storm work as needed.
Supervisory responsibilities include no direct reports.
Experience requirements include prior experience in electric utility vegetation management, construction, logging, landscaping, mechanical, or military industries preferred. Education requirements include a high school diploma or education equivalent preferred.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities include physical strength and balance, working outdoors under varying and sometimes adverse weather conditions, hearing verbal instructions from a distance, obtaining and maintaining first-aid certification and CPR, wearing necessary personal protective equipment (PPE), comprehending verbal job instructions/information, maintaining balance over uneven terrain, communicating with others, endurance to perform duties throughout a standard eight or ten hour day, operating and servicing all required tools and equipment, and traveling out of town for storm restoration work when needed.
