NON CDL Operators in Nelson

JAUNT is hiring for fulltime NON-CDL Bus Operators.
NO CDL REQUIRED BUT MUST OBTAIN WITHIN 6 MONTHS OF HIRE
. Jaunt's operators are responsible for operating transit service vehicles to include transit vans, up to 28 passenger buses used in public transportation in Charlottesville City and Albemarle County including Nelson Co., Greene Co., Fluvanna Co., Buckingham Co., and Louisa Co. Operators assume responsibility for the safety of customers and equipment and perform routine vehicle inspections to ensure proper operations. They communicate appropriate information to customers, supervisors, and peers, oversee the safety of passengers, resolve problems, and provide outstanding customer service.

Operates independently with minimal supervision.

• Operates a transit vehicle to pick up, transport, and discharge passengers while adhering to route schedule.

• Performs a pre‑trip inspection and post‑trip inspection on transit vehicles for mechanical problems.
• Maintains radio contact with dispatchers to report vehicle breakdowns, accidents, and interruptions in service.
• Adheres to all safety rules and regulations.
• Maintains a professional appearance/observes operator dress code (safety vest, Jaunt shirt).
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• High School Diploma or GED.
• A valid Virginia Driver's license with a positive point balance.
• Ability to operate vehicle under the safest possible conditions.
• Ability to successfully complete an operator 4‑week training course.
• Ability to use good judgement and common sense to make quick, safe decisions with minimal supervision and adapt to constantly changing operating conditions.
• Ability to listen, understand, and carry out information, ideas, and direction presented verbally or electronically by dispatcher or Road Supervisor.

• $500.00 once training is completed.
• $500.00 six months after hire.
• $500.00 after one year of successful employment.

Employment is contingent upon successfully completing and passing a pre‑employment drug screen and maintaining a clean driving record that allows coverage by Jaunt's insurance. Continued employment is contingent upon adherence to Jaunt's Substance Abuse Policy and maintaining a clean driving record.
