Our client is hiring an Operating Room Supply & Inventory Specialist to support their operation in Charlottesville, VA. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring surgical teams have the right products available at the right time. This non-clinical role manages surgical supplies, oversees inventory control activities, coordinates replenishment, maintains accurate inventory records, and supports operating room staff through timely and responsive supply fulfillment.
This position serves as a key partner to operating room personnel by helping prevent supply shortages, maintaining inventory accuracy, and supporting efficient surgical operations. The successful candidate will combine strong inventory management skills with a customer-service mindset to support a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
Order and replenish operating room supplies based on usage trends, inventory levels, and operational needs
Maintain accurate inventory records within the warehouse management system (WMS)
Monitor inventory levels and proactively address low-stock and critical supply items
Receive, verify, organize, and track incoming inventory shipments
Support inventory control processes to ensure accuracy and accountability of surgical supplies
Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, shortages, and product issues
Respond promptly to operating room supply requests and deliver products to designated locations
Prioritize supply fulfillment based on surgical schedules and operational urgency
Develop strong working relationships with operating room staff to understand product usage, preferences, and workflow requirements
Support materials management and healthcare logistics initiatives that improve inventory performance and service levels
Maintain organized, clean, and compliant storage areas
Identify opportunities to improve inventory accuracy, supply availability, and operating room support processes
Qualifications
Previous experience in inventory management, inventory control, materials management, healthcare logistics, warehousing, supply chain operations, purchasing, or a related field preferred
Healthcare, hospital, surgical center, medical distribution, or regulated inventory experience preferred
Familiarity with inventory management systems, warehouse management systems (WMS), ERP platforms, or similar technology
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment
Strong communication and customer service skills
Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment
Commitment to accuracy, responsiveness, and service excellence
Physical Requirements
Frequent walking between inventory, storage, and operating room support areas
Regular lifting, carrying, and transporting supplies
Ability to occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds
