We are currently seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Office & Payroll Administrator to support the management team at a busy retail building materials store in Charlottetown. This role is ideal for someone with strong administrative and payroll experience who can step into a fast-paced environment and manage a variety of office responsibilities with minimal supervision.
THE JOB
Supporting the Store Manager and leadership team, the successful candidate will be responsible for payroll processing and a variety of administrative duties, including:
  • Reviewing, verifying, and transmitting employee payroll hours to the central payroll office
  • Sorting, distributing, and filing various paperwork including reports, mail, customer documentation, and internal communications
  • Communicating via email and phone with internal teams to research and resolve store-related inquiries
  • Acting as a point of contact for Head Office and Regional Offices to source information and provide updates
  • Creating purchase orders for store-use items and ordering supplies within budget
  • Reviewing store expenses with the Store Manager and forwarding documentation to Accounts Payable
  • Sorting, stamping, and organizing invoices and financial documentation
  • Providing basic technical support for office equipment such as computers, telephones, radios, and handheld devices
  • Coordinating service or repairs for store electronics when approved by management
  • Taking and distributing minutes from store-level management meetings
  • Providing customers with account statements and end-of-month balances
  • Maintaining strict confidentiality of sensitive employee and financial information

  • $18.00 – $21.00 per hour + 4% vacation pay depending on experience
    This is a temporary-to-permanent opportunity, depending on performance and business needs

  • REQUIREMENTS
  • Previous administrative experience in payroll and office support roles
  • Experience/knowledge of the building supply industry
  • Experience with HRIS systems (Dayforce experience considered a strong asset) and Excel
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Experience handling financial documentation and reporting, including basic Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable tasks
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to manage confidential information
  • Ability to step into the role quickly and operate with minimal training
