Raymond West is looking for a Dock and Door Technician to join our service team. The role involves proficient repair and service of customer equipment, maintaining communication, representing the company, billing, and adhering to safety guidelines.
Responsibilities- Repair all types of Dock and Door equipment that RW sells and services.
- Repair all types of equipment that Raymond West sells and services.
- Update training and skills on a continuing basis.
- Train other employees as needed.
- Maintain a profitable billing level.
- Follow all Service Department procedures.
- Communicate with assigned Service leadership.
- Complete all paperwork transactions in a timely, neat, accurate and orderly fashion.
- Communicate all options to customers before proceeding with work.
- Have the necessary tools to perform repair and scheduled service work.
- Complete jobs within quoted time limits when applicable.
- Maintain a clean and orderly (inside and outside) vehicle.
- Maintain an accurate assigned parts inventory, if applicable.
- Represent the entire company at all times.
- Pass Raymond Certification and re-certification if applicable.
- Maintain a good working knowledge of customers and equipment in assigned areas.
- Maintain an acceptable driving record as established by the company’s insurance carrier.
- Report accidents whether self or customer.
- Account for 100% of available time during working hours.
- Must be willing to work overtime when necessary.
- Must coordinate all overtime with assigned supervisor.
- Must follow all procedures in the company’s Employee Handbook.
- Must follow safety procedures and use good judgment in regard to safety.
- Must be willing to work out of town as necessary.
- Establish a positive rapport with customers.
- Perform other specific duties and projects as assigned by the Service Supervisors or Managers.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational time‑management skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and similar software.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.
- Maintain effective working relationships with employees, co‑workers, and managers in other departments.
- Willingness to work off‑hours as needed and assume more responsibility.
- Self‑motivated and able to manage time efficiently.
- Customer orientated.
- Able to always exhibit professional behavior.
- Willing to follow mandates and procedures of the Service Department.
- Deal with customers on a face‑to‑face basis.
- Maintain a sound working relationship with other technicians and fellow workers.
- Pass all available certificates appropriate to the position.
- Working knowledge of basic DC electricity, basic AC electricity, internal combustion, and diesel engines.
- Write routine reports and correspondence.
- Basic math skills and applying common sense instructions.
- Raymond Level 1 Certified or working toward that goal, if applicable.
- Valid driver’s license with no more than the allowable level of points on record, if applicable.
- Maintain personally owned tools according to approved minimum tool list.
- Maintain additional tools as required by duties and certification level.
- Take directions, be a team player.
- Know hydraulic systems and mechanical abilities.
- Clean, neat, professional appearance.
- Learn quickly and perform accurately with flexibility.
- Motivated for continuous self‑development and training.
Minimum:
High school diploma, general education degree (GED) or equivalent. Minimum of 3 years breakdown experience or comparable service experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Position will require daily travel within assigned territories.
- Technicians will be provided a company vehicle and a company Fuel Card.
- Must be able to be insured by Raymond West.
- Position is non‑sedentary.
- Vision: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, focus adjustment.
- Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
