• Plan effective lessons aligned with elementary level Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks.
• Motivate pupils’ interest and maintain a classroom environment conducive to instruction in the general education curriculum, promoting student learning and achievement.
• Properly supervise pupils to ensure health, safety, and positive interaction among peers.
• Work cooperatively with teaching colleagues to plan and develop curriculum, and be a contributing member of a professional learning community.
• Contribute to the inventory, care, maintenance, and storage of instructional materials and equipment in collaboration with other staff members.
• Attend and actively participate in grade level and full faculty meetings.
• Maintain ongoing communication with parents regarding pupil progress, including preparing interim progress reports, quarterly grades for report cards, and participation in parent-teacher conference days, communication logs, and other written telephone/personal conference logs as necessary.
• Spend appropriate time outside of regular school hours to prepare classes, assess student work, and perform ancillary duties.
• Actively engage in ongoing professional development activity and maintain state certification (recertification), including an Individual Professional Development Plan approved by the principal.
• Fulfill the teaching role in alignment with The Principles of Effective Teaching (Regulatory Authority: 603 CMR 35.00: M.G.L. c.69, §1B; c.71, §38).

• Bachelor’s degree or higher, appropriate licensure from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
• Postgraduate Certificate preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills, resourcefulness and creativity, and sound professional ethics.
• Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.

Ability to plan and effectively deliver instruction in alignment with the Massachusetts Curriculum Framework; while providing a suitable learning environment, supervision and motivation of assigned pupils.
