One-On-One Special Education Para educator
The South West Metro Intermediate District #288 has a full-time opening for a one-on-one special education para educator in the Ascent program located at 401 Education Center in Chaska, MN. South West Metro serves students in 11 member districts and 8 associate member districts across the southwestern Twin Cities metropolitan area with programs in special education, career and technical education, care and treatment, adult education, and alternative education.

The Ascent Program serves students at our 401 Education Center location in grades 6-8. Ascent is an emotional and behavioral (EBD) program.
Description:
Special education para educator, 7 hours a day for 183 contract days. Efficiently and effectively assist in providing a well-organized, smoothly functioning program in a special education setting while working under the supervision of a supervising teacher. Performs support work assisting students in meeting educational, communication, emotional, physical, and behavioral goals of special needs students. Works individually or in small groups.

The pay range for this position is $/hr based on experience. Job Summary:
Provide support by working directly with students to increase their academic, social/behavioral, communication, and study skills under the direction of the teacher(s).
Qualifications:
- Two years of study at an institution of higher education (60 college credits) OR an associate degree (or higher) OR the successful completion of the para educator training and assessments.
- The ability to obtain the PCA/CFSS certificate.
- Experience working with students with significant disabilities is preferred, but not required.
- Non-violent crisis intervention (CPI) required. Training is offered by the school district.
- Must pass a background check.
- Capable of discretion/confidentiality.
