Position: Integrated Product Team (IPT) Lead

Location: Chaska, MN

Position Summary

The Engineering IPT Lead is responsible for leading technical teams on new product development projects in our Power and Actuation Systems (PAS) Department. This individual will be part of a development team creating embedded systems for electrical power systems, and manipulation and control of flight actuation systems. Activities for this role include requirements definition and management, planning of technical tasks for the team, reviewing designs, integration and testing, release documentation, and system validation.

The qualified candidate will have either Mechanical, Electrical, or Software Engineering training and experience. This individual will play a key role on high priority programs and will have significant interactions with senior engineers, system engineers, test engineers, program managers, and customers. Additionally, the candidate will directly manage a team of project engineers. Functional leadership comprises approximately 25% of indirect support to the project team, with the remaining 75% used for direct support to specific project‑related tasks.

Responsibilities
  • Direct Engineering IPT Lead Responsibilities:
    • Perform the duties of an Engineering IPT Lead.
    • Manage the technical team’s performance relative to project schedule and cost and support the program manager.
    • Lead the new product development processes of electromechanical systems for commercial and military platforms.
    • Demonstrate initiative, resourcefulness, judgment, cooperation, and the ability to communicate technical information.
    • Support new business pursuits that address program technical requirements, schedule, and cost.
    • Lead a technical team from the beginning to the end of a new development project.
    • Communicate, plan, organize, supervise, and control work in one or more projects concurrently.
    • Interface with both commercial and military customers in technical program definition and execution.
    • Identify technical tasks and resources for projects and create engineering development plans, work breakdown structures, and related documents needed to execute projects.
    • Manage and control within 10% of the approved engineering budget.
    • Manage system requirements and define lower‑level requirements.
    • Oversee and review technical reports to satisfy internal and external deliverables.
  • Functional Leadership Responsibilities:
    • Coordinate subordinate employee recruitment, selection, training, performance assessment, work assignment, salary, and recognition or disciplinary actions related to the Engineering IPT Lead role.
    • Ensure compliance tasks are completed in a timely manner and teach and enforce processes and procedures.
    • Develop and maintain communications processes, tools, templates, and training for cross‑project coordination and execution.
    • Develop and maintain monthly resource demand plans.
    • Responsible for the development and implementation of talent and capability roadmaps for the organization.
    • Communications, including internal staff meetings and dissemination of information, both downward and upward.
Qualification / Knowledge / Skills Required
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering.
  • 6+ years of experience as a technical lead.
  • New Product Development experience in aerospace/military industry.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, plan, organize, supervise, and control work in one or more projects concurrently.
  • Experience executing a project from the beginning to the end.
  • Proficiency in utilizing Microsoft Project and Project.
  • Proficiency in Earned Value Management and Control Account Management.
  • Strong documentation and writing skills.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Ability to work closely with a team of engineers and technicians and comfortable in a laboratory environment.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
Work Environment and

Physical Requirements
  • Exposure to typical manufacturing environments, including machine shop, assembly, and testing, with appropriate eye, hearing, and foot protection as required.
  • Business office environment requiring use of telephone and personal computer.
  • Work under pressure and overtime when required to meet deadlines.
Pay Range

Pay Range: $133,000 to $165,000 Annually
