Job Summary

The Certified Operating Room Technician (Surgical Tech) provides skilled support during orthopedic surgical procedures, specializing in total joint arthroplasty and working with a variety of implant systems. This role ensures the efficient preparation and maintenance of the surgical environment, assists surgical staff during operations, and adheres to strict infection control and safety protocols. The Surgical Tech collaborates closely with the surgical team to facilitate optimal patient outcomes in a fast‑paced operating room setting.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare operating rooms by setting up surgical instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies specific to orthopedic procedures.
  • Assist surgeons and surgical staff during total joint arthroplasty and other orthopedic implant surgeries.
  • Maintain sterile field and ensure adherence to aseptic techniques throughout surgical procedures.
  • Handle surgical instruments and pass them to surgeons efficiently and safely.
  • Inspect and maintain surgical equipment and instruments before, during, and after procedures.
  • Assist with the setup and positioning of patients for surgery.
  • Participate in inventory management and restocking of surgical supplies.
  • Comply with all facility policies, safety regulations, and infection control standards.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure seamless surgical workflow.
Required Skills & Certifications
  • Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in orthopedic surgical technology, including total joint arthroplasty.
  • Proficiency with a variety of orthopedic implant systems.
  • Knowledge of sterile technique and operating room protocols.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced surgical environment.
Preferred Skills & Certifications
  • Additional certifications related to surgical technology or orthopedic specialties.
  • Experience with other surgical specialties or procedures.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Special Considerations
  • Facility may cancel one shift every four weeks (up to 12 hours) without penalty or payment.
  • Strict adherence to infection control and safety policies is mandatory.
  • Work environment is a surgical operating room requiring compliance with sterile procedures.
Scheduling
  • Day shift schedule, 10‑hour shifts, 4 days per week.
  • Contract length of 13 weeks, with ASAP start date.
