Job Title: Quality Technician II (2nd or 3rd Shift)
Job Description: THE ROLE:
Our site in Chaska, MN is seeking a Quality Technician II to join our team. As a quality technician, you will ensure incoming, in-process, and finished products all meet the highest quality standards and customer specifications. This involves tasks like developing and providing advanced metrology skills, collecting specs data and conducting analysis, and implementing corrective and preventative actions to maintain quality standards.
Additionally, you will actively collaborate with manufacturing, quality inspection, and manufacturing engineering staff to address quality concerns and drive continuous improvement initiatives. HOURS FOR THIS POSITION ARE 2PM-10PM OR 10PM-6AM MONDAY-FRIDAY.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Conducts regular process audits to ensure compliance with applicable procedures
- Demonstrates advanced measurement and inspection skills, including CMM programming, troubleshooting, and application of complex electronic non-contact measurement equipment.
- Develop new inspection methods to enhance efficiency of processes.
- Creates Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) for changes to inspection procedures, control plans, and aesthetic specifications.
- Supports the New Product Development Teams and Manufacturing Value Streams with part measurements and analysis.
- Provides measurement support to Manufacturing for advanced measurement tools or automated measurement equipment (set-up, programming, teaching and training, troubleshooting, etc.).
- Participate in the on-site calibration program to ensure all metrology instruments are calibrated in a timely manner.
- Performs First Article inspections, Capability Studies, and Measurement Systems Analysis as required. Leads & participates in Gage R&R studies for measurement system analysis.
- Supports clean room environmental monitoring and testing, as required. Supports investigation of out-of-specification results and impact on product quality.
- Assists in New Product Development activities (development of inspection plans, data collection for Validation and qualification, etc.) to ensure products released to manufacturing meet quality performance goals
- Participates in continuous improvement (Lean and Six Sigma projects) within assigned manufacturing areas and quality processes
- Authors and/or reviews procedures, work instructions, test specifications, and other documents
- Assists with quality notifications; creating or reviewing new quality notifications, ensuring product is blocked, assigning, and monitoring tasks.
- Assists with customer Return Auth Process (posting goods, verifying required documentation was provided (CAR form), verifying part number & counts, decontamination processing, assigning QN tasks.
- Integrates on all key business processes to influence customer satisfaction, waste elimination, growth, cost effectiveness and product/system quality. Promotes and implements use of continuous improvement tools to eliminate non-value activities. Participate actively in continuous improvement activities such as 6S, Kaizen events, etc.
- Maintains a clean and safe work area. Performs duties in a safe manner and observes approved safety procedures. Communicates potential hazards immediately to supervisor.
- Completes miscellaneous tasks assigned in support of the larger organization and production goals.
WHAT WE SEEK:
- Must be 18 years or older and have the right to work in the US without sponsorship.
- 2 to 5 years' experience as a quality inspector or quality technician in a manufacturing/clean room environment or equivalent education/experience.
- Prior experience utilizing SAP or other Quality Management Systems.
- Advanced metrology, data entry, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read mechanical or electrical blueprints including interpreting Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), hydraulic and pneumatics symbols.
- Experience using various measurement equipment including calipers, micrometers, gauge pins, dial indicators, surface plate, optical comparators.
- Proficiency in CMM programming.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with employees at all plant organizational levels.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced dynamic manufacturing environment.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Familiar with acceptance sampling standards and plan (AQI).
