Automation Maintenance Technician
Brings critical role at Beckman Coulter Diagnostics by maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and optimizing high‑volume automated manufacturing equipment used in reagent production. Provides hands‑on electrical, mechanical, and controls expertise to ensure reliable equipment performance, minimize downtime, and drive continuous improvement. Works closely with engineers, technicians, and external suppliers to deliver exceptional equipment reliability, performance, and compliance within an FDA‑regulated manufacturing environment.
Position is part of the Manufacturing Process Engineering team and will be an on‑site role, supporting the Reagent Operations facility located in Chaska, MN.
Key Responsibilities- Diagnose and repair highly automated production equipment (electrical, mechanical, PLC/HMI, robotics, vision, motion control) to minimize downtime and restore stable operations.
- Perform root cause analysis of automation, process, and material issues, implementing corrective actions to improve manufacturing performance and reliability.
- Support installation, commissioning, and qualification of new/upgraded equipment while maintaining technical documentation and collaborating cross‑functionally to enhance equipment reliability.
- Associate degree, preferably in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or related field, with 6+ years of experience including experience supporting automated manufacturing equipment.
- Strong hands‑on expertise across electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, robotics, vision systems, and PLC/HMI platforms (such as Rockwell), including schematic interpretation and machine/electrical safety (LOTO, NFPA 70E).
- Proven problem‑solver in fast‑paced production environments with strong communication skills and flexibility to support off‑shift or on‑call operations.
- Apply Lean Six Sigma tools, statistical methods, and data analysis to drive process improvements, quality, and equipment reliability.
- Experience supporting regulated manufacturing environments, ensuring compliance with quality systems and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Hold or working toward advanced automation certifications (e.g., ISA CCST, CAP) with a focus on continuous technical development.
The hourly range for this role is $38.47 - $43.27. Compensation may be modified in the future.
