Position: Assembly & Test Technician I

Assembly & Test Technician I – Chaska, MN

Position Profile
The Assembly & Test Technician is responsible for processing and assembling electromechanical products for Power and Actuation Systems brushless DC motor applications. This role conducts and assists in the assembly and test of production hardware and subassemblies, in accordance with mechanical drawings, work instructions, routing, and specifications. The technician is also involved in soldering, winding, bonding, crimping, assembly, and identification of the hardware before presentation to Final Inspection.

The individual records work completed for the documentation package in accordance with company processes and procedures.

Minimum

Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated mechanical/technical aptitude and ability to conduct functional tests.
  • Ability to understand and work with blueprint drawings.
  • Detail-oriented, capable of working in a fast-paced environment and following procedures.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with all levels of personnel.
  • Computer literate with MS Office experience and basic PC skills.
  • Must be a US citizen.
Essential or Primary /

Key Responsibilities
  • Complete work as directed, complying with technical specifications and regulatory requirements including mil-specs.
  • Ensure that products perform their proposed functions satisfactorily.
  • Read, interpret documents (procedures, schematics/technical drawings) and use measuring devices to confirm tooling/fixturing geometries and dimensions.
  • Solder, crimp, and assemble critical electronic systems.
  • Operate in accordance with company ESD policies.
  • Setup and operate tools required for assembly: hand tools, load testing devices, micrometers, depth micrometers, calipers, microscopes.
  • Setup and operate equipment required for building and testing: multimeters, ohmmeters, voltmeters, torque wrenches, dynamo meters, load cells.
  • Assist with testing equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Conduct function testing, troubleshoot, rework, and document results accurately.
  • Maintain accurate parts counts and documentation for each job.
  • Identify causes for test failures, perform rework with limited supervision, and participate in corrective action resolution.
  • Document and support Lean ideas to improve company efficiencies.
  • Assist in packaging hardware in accordance with ESD procedures.
  • Maintain all hand tools in clean working condition.
  • Notify supervisor of any equipment requiring repair.
  • Properly handle and dispose of chemicals used, using required PPE.
  • Identify routing discrepancies and notify supervisor for necessary changes.
  • Perform other job duties as requested, directed, or assigned.

Work Environment
  • Exposed to typical manufacturing/machine shop conditions: fluids, fumes, airborne particles, moving parts, noise, and vibration.
  • Constant exposure to abrasive chemicals.
  • Use of standard office equipment and manufacturing equipment with appropriate eye, hearing, and foot protection.
  • Temperature may vary due to external factors and machining processes.
  • Full-time position; overtime and weekend work may be required.
  • Some travel may be required (5–10%).
Physical Requirements
  • Regular communication and hearing requirements.
  • Frequent reaching, handling, and use of hands and arms.
  • Close, distance, peripheral, depth vision required; ability to adjust focus.
  • Regular standing, sitting, walking, stooping, bending, turning, balancing, crouching, and moving about the facility.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, or move items up to 45 pounds.
Pay Range

$23.75 – $28.00 per hour (Chaska, MN office).
