Job Description

This role assembles and inspects a variety of mechanical and electro-mechanical assemblies, sub-assemblies, and final assemblies in a clean, climate-controlled manufacturing environment. You will work from electronic documentation, including job order logs, work instructions, prints, packing lists, and sales orders, while consistently meeting quality standards and production expectations. The position requires careful use of hand and power tools, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to safety, integrity, and teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble mechanical and electro-mechanical assemblies, sub-assemblies, and final assemblies according to electronic drawings, electronic job order logs, and work instructions.
  • Inspect assembled units to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and fixtures as required to assemble products safely and efficiently.
  • Prepare parts by sanding, cutting, drilling, painting, and performing other preparation tasks as needed.
  • Work at different workstations within the assigned product line and support cross-training across multiple cells.
  • Perform daily cycle counts and accurately record production and inventory information.
  • Continuously seek product and process improvements that meet or exceed customer requirements and align with ISO 9001:2015 policies.
  • Support Lean manufacturing activities, including participation in Kaizen events and 5S initiatives.
  • Keep supervisors and cell leads informed of job-related issues, improvement ideas, and other relevant information, including contributions to Kaizen communication tools.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a respectful, supportive manner with coworkers, leadership, suppliers, and other partners.
  • Keep the work area clean, organized, and in a neat and orderly condition.
  • Ensure all processes are safe, ergonomically sound, and compliant with applicable safety requirements.
  • Promptly report safety concerns to a lead, supervisor, or safety committee member.
  • Operate computers, tablets, and other electronic devices to access documentation and record work activities.
  • Lift, push, and pull moderate weights as part of daily assembly tasks.
  • Perform related duties as assigned to support production and team goals.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Familiarity with mechanical assembly processes and production assembly environments.
  • Experience working with sub-assemblies and final assemblies in a manufacturing setting.
  • Ability to support Lean manufacturing initiatives, including Kaizen events and 5S practices.
  • Awareness of ISO 9001:2015 quality standards and their application in a production environment.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively share information with supervisors, cell leads, and coworkers.
  • Team-oriented mindset with a focus on maintaining a positive and respectful work atmosphere.
  • Comfort working in multiple cells and being cross-trained in different assembly areas.

Work Environment

This role is based in a manufacturing facility that produces commercial humidifiers and steam machines used to add moisture to indoor air. Assemblers work within three primary cells and are cross-trained and rotated among different areas, providing variety in daily tasks and exposure to multiple product lines. The facility is climate controlled and kept clean, offering a comfortable and orderly environment.

Team members use hand and power tools, fixtures, and electronic devices such as computers and tablets to complete their work. The schedule for this position is on first shift, typically from 5:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday, with occasional half-day work on Fridays. Employees receive a 15-minute break at 9:00 a.m. and a 30-minute paid lunch at 12:00 p.m. The dress code follows a casual 'dress for the day' approach, allowing comfortable clothing that is not overly loose;
