Overview

The Machinist position is responsible for the set‑up and operation of various conventional and CNC machine shop equipment, including manual lathes, mills, CNC machining centers, and cylindrical grinders. The role produces complex, tight‑tolerance products and involves documentation creation and review, troubleshooting, continuous improvement, equipment selection, set‑up/operation, and maintenance. The incumbent must multi‑task across multiple machine shop activities with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manufacture production and tooling parts using a variety of tools, equipment, and materials as required.
  • Set‑up and operate machine shop equipment efficiently, safely, and consistently.
  • Perform component/material inspections using precise measuring tools; provide guidance on in‑process/final inspection requirements, methods, and tools.
  • Use precision measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, depth gages, and vision systems.
  • Interpret graphs and data for problem solving, SPC, and performance monitoring.
  • Coordinate, execute, document, and close machine shop activities with effective interdepartmental communication.
  • Generate work instructions, set‑up sheets, and programs for machining activities.
  • Read, interpret, and advise on manufacturability from documents such as blueprints, tolerances, GD&T, and operational instructions.
  • Operate CNC and manual equipment safely and efficiently to meet customer requirements with little supervision.
  • Verify that documentation, procedures, equipment, and tooling produce conforming products safely and efficiently.
  • Train and mentor others in machining processes for production products.
  • Communicate issues with recommendations to appropriate personnel.
  • Perform troubleshooting to resolve issues and provide improvement recommendations.
  • Define and perform routine equipment maintenance.

  • Bring initiatives and activities to closure through effective interaction with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Abide by all safety, quality, housekeeping, and company policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to a positive work environment through effective communication at all levels.
  • Actively participate in team meetings, improvement initiatives, and support company goals.
  • Lead the training of personnel in required technical machining tasks.
  • Demonstrate commitment to company values consistently.
  • Inform management of area activities and significant problems.
  • Assume related duties as assigned.
  • Maintain a clean, secure, and well‑maintained work area and equipment.
  • Complete special projects and miscellaneous assignments as required.
  • Work in typical manufacturing conditions, including exposure to fluids, fumes, moving parts, noise, and vibration.
  • Engage in both office and manufacturing environments as needed.
  • Mandatory overtime and weekend work may be required.
  • No travel expected for this position.
Physical Requirements
  • Regularly required to talk and hear.
  • Frequently reach with hands and arms; use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
  • Specific vision abilities: close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, focus adjustment.
  • Required to stand 7–8 hours daily, sit, walk, stoop, bend, turn, balance, and/or crouch, and move throughout the facility.
  • May lift or move items up to 40 lbs, occasionally up to 70 lbs.
Pay Range

Pay Range: $25 – $33 per hour
