Position: Stepdown Nurse (RN) - Chatham, IL
A professional nursing opportunity is available for experienced RNs skilled in Stepdown/PCU care, offering a contract assignment in Chatham, IL. This role focuses on delivering specialized care within an acute care, Level I trauma center environment, renowned for its Magnet recognition and teaching hospital status. The assignment involves primarily night shifts with options to accommodate preferred schedules.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive care to telemetry, neuro-stepdown, and PCU patients, including cardiac, neurological, respiratory, and orthopedic cases.
• Manage advanced cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and emergency response using rapid response teams.
• Perform complex procedures such as sheath removal, tracheostomy management, and arterial line care.
• Administer and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips, manage feeding tubes, and conduct phlebotomy including central and peripheral lines.
• Apply isolation precautions and wound care techniques proficiently.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams in a high-acuity setting applying Cerner charting systems (preferred).
• Float flexibly within assigned units to meet patient care needs.

Qualifications / Desired

Experience:

• Registered Nurse with an active Illinois license.
• Minimum of one year of relevant Stepdown/Telemetry/PCU experience; first-time stepdown nurses not accepted.
• Current BLS and NIH certifications required; ACLS preferred.
• Experience with telemetry, neuro stepdown, post-cardiac interventions, ventilator care, and Level I trauma care highly advantageous.
• Strong skills in cardiac drip management, arterial line, central line care, and advanced respiratory support.
• Weekend availability every other weekend and schedule flexibility required.

Schedule:

• Night shifts: 3x12-hour (18:45 - 07:15) with option for 4x12-hour shifts based on candidate preference.
