Colony Pool - Head Coach Swim Team

Overview

Lead the Colony Pool Swim Team and shape a competitive, positive, and development-focused summer program. The Head Coach oversees all aspects of the swim team, ensuring swimmer safety, skill progression, and a strong team culture aligned with YMCA standards.

• Lead and manage all swim team practices, meets, and special events
• Develop season training plans for all age groups and skill levels
• Supervise, schedule, and support assistant coaches
• Ensure compliance with YMCA, USA Swimming, and safety standards
• Coordinate meet entries, schedules, and team communication
• Communicate clearly with parents and lead team meetings as needed
• Support program growth and foster strong team spirit

• You take safety seriously

• 1–3 years of competitive swim coaching experience
• Prior staff supervision experience preferred
• Current USA Swimming certifications (or ability to obtain)
• Lifeguard, CPR/AED, and First Aid certifications required
• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and extended hours during the season

• Extended time on the pool deck
• Lifting up to 50 pounds
• Outdoor summer environment (heat, humidity, chemicals)
• Maintaining constant visual and auditory awareness
• Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations

This includes attending required training, reporting suspicious or inappropriate behaviors, and adhering to procedures that minimize risk. Supervisors are also responsible for providing oversight, feedback, and accountability to ensure staff and volunteers follow these standards.
