Plant Accountant – Chattanooga, TN
Support the Plant Finance team in executing accounting and finance responsibilities for the Chattanooga manufacturing plant. Prepare manufacturing performance reports daily and weekly; assist with daily financial control compliance and audit activities; contribute to month‑end and quarter‑end closing; support cost savings, capital, standard costing, and ad‑hoc analysis.
Responsibilities- Month‑end close journal entry, reconciliation, and report preparation.
- Daily reporting to cross‑functional stakeholders.
- Daily internal control activity preparation and documentation.
- Weekly open purchase order review and spend forecasting.
- Participation in annual physical inventory.
- Ad‑hoc financial and cost analysis.
- Support the Assistant Controller and Cost Accountant with cost savings, capital, and standard costing.
- Collaborate with other departments to provide financial expertise in decision‑making.
- B.S. degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 2–3 years of accounting experience; manufacturing experience a plus.
- Knowledge of GAAP accounting, automated accounting systems and SOX.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, problem‑solving, and prioritization skills.
- Strong computer/systems/PC skills; intermediate Microsoft Excel; ERP system experience, JDE E1 a plus.
- Attention to detail and a collaborative approach.
- Enjoys working in a team and collaborative environment.
- Eager to develop cost and financial accounting skills.
- Willing to provide technical expertise to cross‑functional departments.
- Willing to “step outside the box”.
