WE’RE HIRING — AUTOMOTIVE TECHNICIAN / SERVICE WRITER Holk’s Garage, Inc. | Chattanooga, Tennessee
Tired of the dealership grind? Looking for a shop where your skills, attitude, and future actually matter?
Holk's Garage, Inc. is growing, and we’re looking for a well-rounded automotive professional who wants more than just another job.
We’re interested in talking with experienced technicians, service writers, and motivated automotive professionals who are ready for steady hourly employment, a professional work environment, and the opportunity to continue learning.
WHAT MAKES HOLK’S GARAGE DIFFERENT?We’re not a cookie-cutter repair shop.
We work on all makes and models
, perform difficult repairs and advanced diagnostics, build and modify vehicles, perform tuning, and service a number of large commercial fleets.
That means you’re going to see a lot more than oil changes and brake jobs
.
You’ll have the opportunity to learn and work across the entire automotive industry — from customer service and estimating to diagnostics, mechanical repair, electrical troubleshooting, programming, performance work, fleet service, and everything in between.
And if there’s something you don’t know?
We’ll teach you.
We have extensive expertise on both the service-advisor/customer side and the repair/diagnostic side of the business. We are willing to train the right person in-house and pay for continued education in automotive technology.

- Self-motivated
- Willing to learn
- Well-rounded or willing to become well-rounded
- Good with customers and aware of their needs
- Capable of working independently
- Comfortable asking questions when they don't know something
- Interested in learning the WHOLE industry
, not just one portion of it - Able to work well with a team
- Proud of their work
- Looking for a long-term opportunity rather than simply another paycheck
Most importantly: we want someone with a good attitude.
We would rather hire someone with basic automotive knowledge who is eager to learn, coachable, and easy to work with than someone with a long résumé who thinks they already know everything and makes the workplace difficult for everyone else.
PAY & EXPERIENCECompensation will be based on experience and overall qualifications, including:
- Automotive experience
- ASE certifications
- Tool ownership
- Diagnostic ability
- Technical knowledge
- Customer/service experience
- And, most importantly,
attitude and willingness to learn
We believe in paying people according to what they bring to the table.
If you have limited experience,
initial compensation will reflect that — but we’re willing to invest in the right person who demonstrates the desire and ability to grow.
We’re willing to provide in-house training and paid continuing education because we believe good technicians and service professionals should never stop learning.
Automotive technology changes constantly. We want people who are excited to keep up with it.

- Being treated like a number
- Repetitive work
- Flat-rate pressure
- Limited exposure to different types of repairs
- Being told what you can and can't work on
- A toxic or frustrating work environment
- Having nowhere to grow
Holk’s Garage, Inc. is continuing to grow, and we’re looking for someone who wants to grow with us.
