Inspect and monitor construction activities at the project site(s). Conduct the most complex inspection activities for at least two of the five categories: roadway, bridges, drainage, erosion & control, or maintenance & traffic. Work under limited or direct supervision depending on demonstrated knowledge. Apply knowledge of highway construction materials, methods, and equipment; geometry and basic mathematics; interpret and explain construction plans, drawings, contract provisions, and specifications;
and keep effective communication.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certificates from a State Highway Agency or National Entity (e.g., ACI or NICET) in earthwork, asphalt, and concrete if required.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Minimum 6 years of related experience; equivalent experience may substitute a degree.
- Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English.
- Intermediate arithmetic skills.
- Intermediate Microsoft Office Suite knowledge.
- Adaptability to new technologies.
- Advanced knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment used in highway construction.
- Ability to read, interpret, and explain construction plans, drawings, contract provisions, and specifications.
Approximately 20% travel; domestic or international travel may be required.
Driver’s License RequirementsValid driver’s license is required.
