Construction Materials Field Supervisor

Chattanooga, Tennessee – Construction Materials Field Supervisor, Construction Services team at S&ME.

• Provide day‑to‑day supervision of field staff, coordinate schedules with clients and contractors, and assign personnel to support efficient and timely field work.
• Manage Construction Materials Testing and Special Inspection projects from start to finish, including budgets, schedules, resource planning, and coordination with Service Line Managers and Project Managers.
• Supervise and mentor field and office staff, lead training in testing and inspection procedures, support certification achievement, and maintain accurate records of employee qualifications.
• Lead safety initiatives, conduct regular safety meetings, enforce PPE and safety protocols, and ensure proper equipment availability, maintenance, and calibration while supporting quality assurance efforts.
• Build strong client relationships, maintain clear communication throughout the project lifecycle, and support business growth through client development, marketing efforts, and proposal preparation.

• High School diploma or GED.
• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, or Geotechnical engineering or a construction‑related field is a plus.
• Minimum of two years of experience in construction materials testing/inspection of soil, concrete, masonry, and/or asphalt.
• Experience in a supervisory or management role.
• Active Construction Materials industry certifications, such as ACI:
  Field Testing Grade I, Strength Testing Technician, Laboratory Technician; or ICC:
  Special Inspector (Reinforced Concrete, Masonry, Soils).
• Strong English communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing).

• Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Walk over rough, uneven terrain and stand for long periods.
• Routinely lift and carry 40–50 lbs of samples and equipment.
