Mueller Company – Customer Experience Account Manager
Hourly rate: $27.50/hour
Mueller Company (Mueller Co.), the nation’s leading manufacturer of flow control devices for the water and gas distribution industries, has an opening for an Account Manager in our Customer Experience (C/X) Team. This position focuses on providing account updates and support to established distribution partners and customers of Mueller. The role does not involve cold‑calling or outbound sales calls. The position is located at Mueller’s Shared Services office in Decatur, Illinois and reports to a Customer Experience Supervisor.
Responsibilities- Assess and address external customer needs via phone or email by providing stock checks, expedites, technical support, order history tracking shipments, order entry, and product applications/limitations for established and regular customers of Mueller.
- Provide support to resolve customer complaints and issues, including all paperwork and follow‑up until the process is complete.
- Act as liaison between territory managers/customers and various Mueller manufacturing plants; work closely with planners and manufacturing department heads to supply current information on expedite requests and lead times.
- Although no outbound sales, listen to customer needs and recommend Mueller products that meet the requested application.
- Carry out additional job responsibilities and duties as required.
This position requires extended use of a phone/headset for up to eight hours per workday.
Required Qualifications- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous work experience or other activities demonstrating strong communications background.
- Intermediate computer experience with ability to quickly learn and navigate new computer programs.
- Ability to work in a team setting and gain trust and respect across Mueller’s locations and customer base.
- Must be customer‑oriented and able to make quick decisions in a professional and confident manner.
- Demonstrated organizational and time‑management skills.
- Minimal travel; expected to be available for occasional travel/training (less than 5%).
- 2+ years of customer service and/or inside sales experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in business or communications‑related field.
- Strong experience in mainframe programs that include inventory control – e.g., JD Edwards (E1).
- Experience in Salesforce.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Experience with phone‑based customer service support systems.
- Technical/Mechanical background.

Work HoursMonday through Friday. Start times may be between 7:00 – 10:00 a.m.; end times between 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. (Typical shifts are 7 a‑4 p or 8 a‑5 p). A 60‑minute unpaid lunch is required. Overtime may be required on an intermittent basis (non‑exempt, eligible for overtime pay).

Compensation & BenefitsSalary/Pay Range: $27.50/hour USD. The range reflects a good‑faith estimate of starting base pay for full‑time employment as of the posting date. Individual compensation may vary.
