Overview
NOTE: Internal HCS employees without previous coaching experience must apply for and be accepted into the Aspiring Instructional Coach LEAD program to be eligible for school‑based instructional coach roles. The 2026‑2027 application for the Aspiring Instructional Coach LEAD program is available from February 2–15, 2026.
The purpose of this job is to lead district efforts to increase achievement for all students and implement Hamilton County frameworks by mentoring, coaching, and assisting teachers with planning and classroom strategies.
Coaches spend at least 80% of their time directly supporting teacher development and student learning, providing on‑the‑job professional learning and support.
Responsibilities- Coach, support, and mentor classroom teachers in effective practices.
- Conduct side‑by‑side coaching cycles, including planning, enacting lessons, and debriefing.
- Serve as a content advisor to teachers and administrators.
- Plan and facilitate professional learning sessions for school and district staff.
- Analyze student assessment data and guide instructional decisions.
- Maintain accurate documentation of coaching cycles, team meetings, and PLCs.
- Collaborate with principals to develop school and teacher support plans.
- Ensure licensure compliance and maintain required documentation.
- Participate in professional development, conferences, and other activities that promote growth and student achievement.
- Perform general administrative tasks as needed and support district policies and regulations.
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree with teaching certification;
Master’s degree preferred. - Minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching experience.
- Experience facilitating professional learning is preferred.
- Previous experience working with a district coach is preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledgeable about formative and diagnostic assessments and research‑based instructional practices.
- Deep understanding of best practices for teaching.
Salary is based on a combination of relevant education and experience. Salary Scale.
