Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, active DHH teaching certification, and 1+ years Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A full-time position is available for a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing to support students within various schools in the Chattanooga, TN area. This on-site role requires providing specialized instruction and support to children who are deaf or hard of hearing, following their individual schedules across multiple school assignments within the district.
Responsibilities include:
- Delivering tailored educational programs to students with hearing impairments
- Collaborating with classroom teachers, families, and other professionals to support student progress
- Monitoring and adapting instruction according to each students needs and schedules
- Maintaining accurate records of student progress and communication
- Participating in team meetings and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge
Qualifications:
- Active Tennessee Department of Education teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH)
- Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing, preferably ranging from early childhood through adolescence
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, families, and staff
- Ability to manage varied caseloads and adapt to dynamic school environments
Location:
Chattanooga, TN (Hamilton County Schools) on-site only; hybrid or remote options are not available for this position.
Schedule:
Full-time, approximately 37.5 hours per week, from January 5, 2026, through May 21, 2026.
