Description

At Chattanooga College Medical, Dental & Technical Careers (MDTC), Pharmacy Technology team members help implement our strategy of preparing students for successful careers in healthcare.

The Adjunct Instructor – Pharmacy Technology will provide instructional support to Pharmacy Technician students to promote academic achievement, skill development, and workforce readiness. This includes responsibilities such as delivering practicum lab and/or clinical instruction, preparing lesson plans and assessments, mentoring students, and maintaining accurate academic records. Ideal candidates must have excellent interpersonal, communication, problem‑solving, and listening skills. Candidates must be able to adapt to a fast‑paced work environment and manage multiple priorities and changing assignments.

This is an instructional position supporting the Pharmacy Technology Department. This role requires considerable interaction with students, faculty, and staff through classroom instruction, labs, and individual student support. Adjunct Instructors are expected to possess extensive knowledge of pharmacy technician principles, clinical practices, and educational standards. They must be able to interpret individual student needs, provide personalized academic support, and work effectively with individuals who may be confused, stressed, or demanding.

Employees in this role can expect to advise and support students regarding coursework, clinical expectations, and professional development, assist with decision‑making related to educational goals, and help guide students toward successful program completion. This position requires maintaining confidentiality and accurate records to ensure compliance with accreditation standards, institutional policies, and federal regulations (including FERPA, as applicable). The role may also support institutional events such as orientation, graduation, or program‑related activities.

Salary Range

From $1,000 per year (part‑time/adjunct; commensurate with experience, credentials, and instructional responsibilities)

Responsibilities
  • Provides instruction and academic support to a diverse population of Pharmacy Technology students, including regular contact regarding progress and performance.
  • Delivers engaging and effective instruction in pharmacy-related courses, including practicum lab and/or clinical components.
  • Prepares lesson plans, assignments, and assessments aligned with curriculum standards.
  • Counsels and supports students through individual and group sessions to address academic concerns and provide guidance.
  • Educates students on program expectations, institutional policies, procedures, and available resources.
  • Completes required professional development and training annually.
  • Supports department‑wide instructional and student success initiatives.
  • Maintains accurate documentation of attendance, grades, and student progress in compliance with institutional, accreditation, and federal requirements.
  • Collaborates with faculty and staff to promote engagement, retention, and successful program outcomes.
  • Provides appropriate referrals for personal, social, and/or academic concerns that may impair student success.
  • Upholds confidentiality and complies with institutional policies, accreditation standards, and federal regulations.
  • Assists with planning and coordination of events such as orientation, graduation, and program activities as needed.
  • Maintains instructional tools, systems, and resources necessary to effectively perform job duties.
  • Remains current on relevant industry trends, best practices in pharmacy technology, and educational methodologies.
  • Collaborates with Pharmacy Technology Department leadership.
