About Girls Preparatory School

The mission of Girls Preparatory School (GPS) is to inspire each girl to lead a life of integrity and purpose by engaging her mind, cultivating her strengths, and nurturing her self-confidence and respect for others. Currently, 130 faculty and staff serve approximately 500 girls in grades six through 12 with a college preparatory curriculum that includes a full complement of courses in the humanities, STEM, the arts, and more, as well as a rich and varied co-curricular program.

Teaching Position Summary

GPS seeks an instructor to teach middle school Spanish while a current teacher is away on maternity leave (approximately August-December 2026). The ideal candidate will be an excellent teacher who is excited to take a learner-centered approach to engaging, supporting, and challenging GPS students in Spanish classes. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about teaching middle school Spanish in particular.

We seek a teacher whose practices are authentic, equitable, competency-based, and reflective of 21st-century learning best practices.

Teaching Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Division Head and the Humanities Department Chair, the person in this role will:

  • Design and maintain a classroom environment that supports girls’ academic and personal growth;
  • Follow the GPS curriculum, executing lessons as designed or adapting them to meet student needs in consultation with the department chair or grade level team;
  • Establish effective rapport with students within a supportive and equitable classroom culture;
  • Implement a variety of learner-centered pedagogical approaches to instruction and assessment;
  • Evaluate and communicate student progress;
  • Demonstrate knowledge of best practices in differentiated instruction;
  • Collaborate with learning support specialists in order to meet the needs of students with learning differences;
  • Attend and participate in departmental and conference meetings, committing to professional development and the professional life of the faculty;
  • Use outstanding and varied written and verbal communication skills to partner with students, families, and colleagues.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Spanish, Linguistics, or related field required;
  • Some teaching experience preferred;
