Instructors are responsible for the delivery of educational materials by utilizing sound educational practices focused on the successful academic development of each student. Instructors utilize the educational experience as a vehicle for the knowledge and skill development of the student’s chosen field to help students achieve their educational and career goals. They promote an engaging, dynamic, student‑centered environment and provide additional support, tutoring, and assistance as needed.
Instructors lead by example, modeling professional and ethical behavior in alignment with the Ancora Education Mission and Core Values.
- Utilize classroom and lab instruction, student assessment mechanisms, and classroom management techniques to provide an engaging educational experience to students.
- Guarantee that students have been presented with material to meet the learning objectives of each course within a student’s program of study.
- Ensure that instructional materials and equipment are ready for student use, sufficient in quantity, properly maintained, and in working order.
- Participate in ongoing faculty assessment and professional development activities to maintain an active, engaged, and up‑to‑date classroom experience; maintain required certification and licensure.
- Actively participate in meetings, review and analyze assessment data, compile reports, and meet academic and administrative deadlines.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and regulatory guidelines, along with internal policies of the company.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Where required, must possess an active certification or licensure.
- Five years of industry experience within the last ten years.
- Non‑degree and occupational associate degree holders: minimum three years of practical work experience in the field of instruction.
- Academic associate or bachelor’s degree holders in technical/occupational courses: minimum four years of practical work experience in the field of instruction and a related degree at least at the same level as the course being taught. All online faculty must have a master’s degree in the content area or a master’s degree with a minimum of 18 semester (or 24 quarter) graduate credit hours in the content area.
- Exceptional cases: eight years of practical work experience may be substituted for required experience when justified by the campus.
- General education courses: master’s degree with appropriate academic coursework and preparation in the subject area(s) taught—18 semester hours of coursework at any credential level in the subject.
- Some states require 18 semester hours at the master’s level.
- Prior to beginning to teach, instructors must either have documented prior teaching experience or complete the new instructor training.
- Ability to qualify as an instructor per institutional and accreditation standards.
- Previous experience teaching in a proprietary education setting.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and accreditation regulations applicable to the proprietary education industry.
