Description
The Department of English at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga College of Arts and Sciences invites applications forthe position of Adjunct Faculty.
UTC English Department’s Composition Program serves undergraduate students across all university degree programs. We help studentsdevelop the critical thinking, analysis, and writing skills necessary for academic success.
Composition students learn to synthesize information from multipletexts and perspectives, respond to the needs of diverse audiences,and adapt their writing for different contexts, purposes, and technologies.
Adjunct instructors are responsible for teaching beginning studentshow to use rhetorical concepts and writing processes, to conduct appropriate research, and to give and to receive feedback tobeginning students. Faculty are responsible for:
- Preparing syllabi, assignment sheets, and courseactivities
- Fostering student engagement using current rhetoric and writingpedagogical practices
- Working with students to develop skills to engage their ownprocess
- Offering feedback on multiple iterations of studentprojects
- Assessing student projects and recording grades
Minimum Qualifications
Instructor with a Master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in Englishor a related field.
Preferred QualificationsRhetoric and/or writing teaching experience preferred.
