ResponsibilitiesThe purpose of this job is to oversee the nutritional aspects of the School Nutrition Program (SNP). The SNP administers the National School Lunch, School Breakfast, After School Snack, and Fresh Fruit and Vegetable programs, along with other Federal meal programs and outside contracts. This district has 72 kitchens and approximately 44,500 students.
- Creates a customer-focused climate and provides quality services and support to schools and other stakeholders.
- Develops menus and recipes to meet federal nutrition regulations with input from students, parents, and staff. Manages effective utilization of commodity inventory.
- Manages Smart Snack a la carte program. Researches products, updates product lists, and provides guidance to staff.
- Develops bid specifications for food contracts, ensuring nutritional and budgetary objectives are met. Attends food shows, collaborates with vendors, and conducts student taste testing.
- Handles requests for special diets, communicating with parents, school personnel, cafeteria staff, nurses, and physicians. Develops customized strategies for each student to ensure safety and program access. Provides carbohydrate counts to nurses and parents for diabetic students. Attends 504 and IEP meetings. Trains cafeteria personnel to meet individual student plan needs.
- Monitors food service operations to ensure conformance to nutritional, safety, sanitation, and quality standards. Enforces standards and makes recommendations for improvement.
- Provides relevant staff training. Monitors performance and surveys staff to identify needed training. Develops and delivers training.
- Organizes implementation of new breakfast delivery methods (in the classroom, cart service, second chance, etc.). Coordinates with principals, cafeteria staff, custodians, and other personnel.
Minimum Qualifications required:
- Requires bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Requires registered dietitian (RD) credential or RD-eligibility with requirement of passing RD exam within 6 months of hire.
- Requires Serv Safe Manager certification or ability to pass Serv Safe Manager exam within 3 months of hire. Serv Safe Instructor and Proctor certifications preferred.
- 3‑years’ experience working in a food service setting preferred. Previous school nutrition experience preferred.
- Requires possession and maintenance of a valid driver’s license.
- 7.5 hours per day

Salary is based on a combination of relevant education and experience. Grade J
