Cafeteria Monitor

Overview

East Brainerd Elementary School is a large public school dedicated to providing exceptional education to a diverse student body of over 1200 students.

Student demographics include a wide range of ethnic, linguistic, and socioeconomic backgrounds that enrich the learning experience for all.

Purpose of this position:
Monitor student behavior and assist students during lunch for 3.5 hours per school day.

• Create a respectful, positive, and pleasant environment in the cafeteria.
• Implement procedures and practices that result in efficient entry and exit of students in the cafeteria.
• Assist students as needed, for example, helping younger children open milk or sauce packets.
• Assist students with special needs as appropriate.
• Use positive strategies to redirect inappropriate student behavior.
• Follow established procedures for ensuring assigned areas are safe.
• Work collaboratively with administration, principals, secretaries, staff, and other stakeholders.
• Arrive to work on time and attend work as scheduled.
• Maintain confidentiality.
• Adhere to the Teacher Code of Ethics as defined by Tennessee Law.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• No degree required; experience working with school‑age students preferred.

• Excellent verbal communication skills to interact effectively with students, parents, and school staff.
• Ability to read and write effectively.

• $15 per hour
