Chattanooga Christian School (CCS) is a Christian, interdenominational, co-educational, day school nestled on 55+ acres at the foot of Lookout Mountain. CCS has been serving Christian families in the Chattanooga area since 1970 and currently enrolls 1,550+ students in the Lower School (Preschool
-5), Middle School (6-8), and High School (9-12). We believe the truth of scripture provides the framework through which all of reality can be understood. To provide academic instruction as an Upper School Spanish Teacher alongside our dedicated middle and high school communities, in alignment with our mission and towards the ends of our Graduate Profile. Course assignments include Spanish I and II, and teaching of students in grades 7 - 11.

This position will begin in January 2027. Candidates interested in a one-semester position (January
- May 2027) are welcome to apply, as are candidates seeking a longer-term teaching opportunity that would continue into the 2027 - 28 school year. Candidates who are also qualified to teach French are encouraged to apply.

CCS World Language curriculum features a communicative, immersive approach requiring the teacher to have a high level of mastery and conversational capacity in the language and a willingness to embrace an immersive environment in the classroom. Students learn via conversations in a highly engaging, structured, and interactive learning experience.

• Implement an immersive, communicative approach to language learning, with strong and effective student engagement strategies and conversational assessment.
• Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, and materials that reflect understanding of the needs of students and the nature of the content and skills.
• Develop and conduct assessment of student learning, both formative and summative.
• Create an environment conducive to learning and appropriate for spiritual, physical, and social development of students, aimed towards an outcome of purpose, dignity, agency, empathy, communal spirit, and responsible action in students.
• Understand, articulate, and embed a biblical perspective of language and culture into instruction, classroom environment, and relationship with students.
• Structure the physical and digital environments (classroom and Canvas course page) in an organized, intentional manner that promotes effective learning and instruction.
• Collaborate with colleagues in ongoing development of instruction, assessment, and practices that reflect the communicative approach and aim towards coherence, alignment, and robust student learning and growth.
