Operates and repairs various equipment and infrastructure of the Hamilton County Water and Wastewater Treatment Authority (WWTA) sanitary sewer collection system and wastewater treatment system, and inspects service connections and new sewer construction, ensures compliance with WWTA’s Sewer Use Rules and Regulations, investigates complaints relating to areas of responsibility.

Operates a variety of heavy vehicles and equipment such as, but not limited to, vacuum/jet truck, pumper trucks, front-end loaders, single axle trucks, multi-axle trucks, cranes, and easement machines. Hauls and unloads various equipment, materials and supplies in a safe and efficient manner; must have knowledge of proper procedures for securing equipment/materials on a truck or trailer and transporting safely; performs vehicle and equipment preventative maintenance;
may provide assistance in traffic control to ensure work zone safety; may transfer equipment to and from work sites; may be called upon to work during emergency weather conditions during and after normal work hours. Works around all types of moving equipment.
Reviews work orders for assignments; ensures work place safety; maintains documentation of work performed and/or materials delivered. Perform or assist in troubleshooting and maintenance of control systems at pump stations and wastewater treatment plants, sewage collection system, Grinder, STEP and STEG systems, buildings, and surrounding property.
Monitors daily operations, maintenance, and test sampling of the WWTA wastewater treatment plants and sewer collection system; performs inspection activities associated with review, approval and inspection of sewer laterals, Grinder, STEP, and STEG systems, mainlines and manholes, inspect sewer construction projects.
Troubleshoots and maintains electrical controls, pump stations, wastewater treatment plants, Grinder, STEP and STEG systems, and collection system; performs sewer line repairs; responsible for workplace safety; reviews blueprints and construction project plans and specifications.
Conducts, records, and submits testing data for wastewater treatment plants to TDEC, responds to operational breakdowns of collection system and treatment plants, Grinder, STEP and STEG systems, and broken sewer lines; maintains and files daily reports and records of construction projects and plant operations; assists with communication between the Wastewater Treatment Authority (WWTA), County departments, contractors, and the general public.

Knowledge of operating/service manuals and other documentation for the operation and maintenance of vehicles and various equipment.
Knowledge of wastewater and sanitary sewer construction and specifications for the construction and maintenance of WWTA sewers and treatment facilities.
Knowledge of WWTA rules and regulations and County policies and procedures.
Knowledge of Federal and State codes and regulations relating to wastewater treatment, sanitary sewer operations and workplace safety.
Knowledge of occupational hazard and effective /proper safety standards, practices and procedures related to equipment operation, heavy labor, and use of hand/power tools and equipment.
Knowledge of personal protective equipment (PPE) application, use, and care.
Knowledge of the Hamilton County area (locations and addresses).
