Quality Assurance Engineer – Komatsu, Chattanooga, TN (Onsite Position)
Job OverviewThe key business reason for this position is to identify and reduce or eliminate quality‑related issues with CMO built products. The Quality Assurance Engineer serves as a liaison between suppliers, engineering, manufacturing, KLTD, etc., ensuring a high‑quality product is the final result of our manufacturing operation and end users. Core actions include collecting failure data from warranty claims, TSI/ETSI information, customer feedback, and summarizing this data to track failures, affected machine models, and lead the Juhin (Serious Quality) process to resolve issues effectively.
Key Job Responsibilities- Review and summarize Field Campaigns (FCs) and Parts & Service News issued by KLTD; determine applicability for KAC, issue KAC versions, manage creation of internal PSNs for CMO products, and report monthly status of FCs.
- Register Juhins for failure issues that meet criteria; summarize failure data, coordinate root‑cause analysis, confirm corrective actions, and close issues.
- Research field data (warranty claims, TSI/ETSI, etc.) to confirm quality issues, quantify seriousness, and facilitate countermeasure action plans, coordinating with KLTD, mother plants, component plants, suppliers, and reducing future failures.
- Coordinate failed parts recalls, conduct technical studies, and manage failed parts analysis with suppliers, laboratories, and KLTD.
- Provide inspection support: test methods, inspection standards, acceptance criteria, and actual test execution.
- Coordinate new model start‑ups, document problems, hold meetings, oversee issues to closure, manage technical data for inspections, sign‑offs, and traceability documents for all CMO production machines.
- Review engineering changes as they are released and judge impact on QA documents.
- Other duties as assigned by manager.
- BS in Engineering or equivalent (required); knowledge of quality control methods desired.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, assess current situation, and develop improvement means.
- Proficiency with SAP, Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint (minimum).
- Proficiency in applying standards and practices; understanding of Komatsu Engineering Standards and drawings.
- Strong interpersonal skills; effective communication with management, staff, shop workers, suppliers, customers, and other Komatsu entities.
- Occasional travel to distributor or supplier locations, KAC locations, or Japan plants; proven leadership ability a plus.
