Designer

Key Responsibilities

* Create, revise, and maintain 2D drawings and 3D models using AutoCAD and other CAD software

* Develop detailed part, assembly, and layout drawings for mechanical systems and equipment

* Interpret engineering specifications, sketches, and technical documents to produce accurate designs

* Generate and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and related engineering documentation

* Perform basic engineering calculations related to dimensions, tolerances, materials, and weights

* Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to refine and improve designs

* Support design revisions, updates, and product change initiatives

* Ensure designs comply with quality standards, safety guidelines, and applicable regulations

* Participate in design reviews and contribute to continuous improvement efforts

Required Skills & Experience

* Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D) and experience with 3D CAD software such as Solid Works or Creo

* Drafting, design, or engineering technology

* Experience creating detailed drawings, assemblies, and 3D models

* Ability to read, interpret, and apply blueprints and technical drawings

* Exposure to manufacturing and industrial environments

* Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities

Preferred Qualifications

* Experience designing heavy equipment or industrial machinery

* Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)

* Experience with BOM creation and ERP systems

* Understanding of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles

* Associate's degree or certification in Drafting, Design, or a related field

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chattanooga, TN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $27.64 - $45.35/hr.
