Full-time About the Role Digital Charter is hiring a Senior Simulator Hardware Engineer to serve as the on-site lead for a federal nuclear power plant simulator training facility in Chattanooga, TN. You will own the day-to-day hardware health, network and computer administration, and component control for a fleet of full-scope nuclear power plant control room simulators used to train operating license examiners, inspectors, and technical staff.

This is a hands-on engineering role with leadership responsibility. You will be the primary technical point of contact with the customer, lead weekly status meetings, and direct preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, modifications, and configuration management across the simulator fleet.

What You Will DoLead hardware preventative and corrective maintenance across multiple full-scope nuclear plant simulators, including power supplies, I/O modules, bench board equipment, annunciators, hand switches, relays, displays, and network gear.

Administer the simulator network and computer systems:
Windows Server and workstation configuration, routers, DNS, DHCP, authentication, patching, imaging, and backups.

Execute hardware modifications including analog-to-digital component replacements, I/O chassis upgrades, and display technology refreshes.

Own simulator component control: inventory, procurement, warranty tracking, annual verification, and disposal.

Maintain configuration management discipline using the customer's formal configuration control system.

Provide on-call response within one hour for unplanned simulator availability issues. Historically fewer than five events per year.

Coordinate with off-site software and simulator engineering experts when escalation is needed.

Deliver monthly status reports, contingency plans, and inventory reports to the customer.

Requirements Completion of a training or educational program in maintenance of full-scope simulator hardware and computer systems. Acceptable sources include technical or trade schools, military training, or commercial training programs.

Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience maintaining full-scope nuclear power plant simulator hardware that includes an electronic I/O system or data acquisition system.

Minimum 4 years troubleshooting complex electronic equipment using oscilloscopes, multi-meters, and related test equipment.

Experience configuring and maintaining Microsoft Windows and Windows Server operating systems.

Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated experience delivering technical customer service.

U.S. citizen or minimum 7 years of U.S. residency with valid work authorization. Position requires successful completion of a federal background investigation.

Preferred Direct experience with one or more of the following platforms:
Babcock & Wilcox, General Electric, Combustion Engineering, Westinghouse four-loop, or Westinghouse advanced reactor simulators.

Familiarity with GSE Systems tools, CORYS tools, Proc See displays, FORTRAN modules, version control systems, or server backup and imaging systems.

Background from a utility training organization, a simulator vendor, or the U.S. Navy nuclear program with civilian simulator crossover.
