Design Drafter

Key Responsibilities

• Create, revise, and maintain 2D drawings and 3D models using AutoCAD and other CAD software.
• Develop detailed part, assembly, and layout drawings for mechanical systems and equipment.
• Interpret engineering specifications, sketches, and technical documents to produce accurate designs.
• Generate and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and related engineering documentation.
• Perform basic engineering calculations related to dimensions, tolerances, materials, and weights.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to refine and improve designs.
• Support design revisions, updates, and product change initiatives.
• Ensure designs comply with quality standards, safety guidelines, and applicable regulations.
• Participate in design reviews and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.

• Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D) and experience with 3D CAD software such as Solid Works or Creo.
• Background in drafting, design, or engineering technology.
• Experience creating detailed drawings, assemblies, and 3D models.
• Ability to read, interpret, and apply blueprints and technical drawings.
• Exposure to manufacturing and industrial environments.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

• Experience designing heavy equipment or industrial machinery.
• Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
• Experience with BOM creation and ERP systems.
• Understanding of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles.
• Associate’s degree or certification in Drafting, Design, or a related field.

Contract to Hire position based in Chattanooga, TN. Fully onsite.

The pay range for this position is $27.64 - $45.35 per hour.
