Job OverviewInsight Global is seeking a Senior Electrical Controls Engineer for a cutting-edge machinery manufacturing OEM. This individual will play a critical role in designing and building the “brain” behind advanced industrial machines. The position focuses on high-performance control systems, including real-time data integrity, precise motion control, and long-term hardware reliability. This engineer will drive innovation through R&D initiatives, own the electrical architecture lifecycle, and serve as a technical leader supporting both development and field operations.
Ideal candidates are strong in industrial automation, controls architecture, and thrive in environments where they are building systems from the ground up rather than maintaining legacy infrastructure.
- Development: Architect and write control code for new machine features, platform migrations, and bug fixes.
- Hardware Ownership: Select and validate next-generation hardware to meet performance targets and manage the Electronics Product Lifecycle (addressing obsolescence with contingency planning).
- R&D & Continuous Improvement: Lead Research and Development projects for new machine platforms and internal infrastructure efforts, with a focus towards automation.
- Commissioning and Field Service Support: Serve as the final escalation point for field service personnel tackling complex, high-level system failures.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering (controls/automation focus)
- 8+ years designing, developing, and commissioning industrial electrical/control systems, or similar
- Expertise in closed‑loop control systems, real‑time/embedded controls, and the end‑to‑end design of industrial control architectures—including translating mechanical requirements into controller, motor, actuator selection and designing deterministic industrial networks (PROFINET, Ether
CAT, CANopen)
- Experience designing within Siemens controls environment ( TIA Portal, S7-1500/1200 hardware, and SINAMICS drive)
- Experience with VFDs, Servo Controls, and high-resolution and high-speed sensors.
- Experience with developing data acquisition and performance benchmarking test plans, and completing validation testing.
