P&C Engineering Specialist in Chattanooga

PDS 2 / Power Delivery Substation

Mesa seeks a P&C Engineering Specialist I for our Power Delivery Substation engineering design team based out of Chattanooga, TN. The successful candidate has 4-5 years of experience in P&C substation design in 69kV to 500kV substations. The role involves working with a team to complete substation P&C design projects that meet client standards and practices while maintaining high quality and efficiency.

Deliverables include Single Line Diagrams, AC & DC Elementary/Schematic Diagrams, Panel Layouts, Wiring Diagrams, Cable Lists, Bills of Material, and more.

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, or related, from an ABET accredited college or university is required.
• Minimum of 4-5 years of progressively responsible experience in 69kV to 500kV substation P&C design is required.
• PE license is required.

• Prepare and complete discipline engineering designs and supporting documentation such as calculations on a task basis.
• Coordinate and prepare calculations, specifications, reports, design details, plans, and drawings within assigned task areas.
• Interface with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects as required.
• Adhere to project scope, schedule, and budget on all assigned projects.
• Perform other duties assigned by the Engineering Supervisor or Engineering Manager.
• Establish, promote, and assure quality on all project work.
• Collaborate with the Engineering Supervisor or Engineering Manager to follow up on construction issues with field engineers to help resolve problems and concerns promptly.
• Attend group meetings with staff as required.
• Incorporate safe work practices into all activities.
• Assist with project execution, work processes, and procedures to continuously improve quality, productivity, and efficiency.
• Use strong verbal and written communication skills with team members and clients.
• Use interpersonal skills to build relationships with team members and clients.
• Possess knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD.
• Estimate and assist in the preparation of bid packages.
• Attend scoping meetings as requested for projects.
• Mentor other designers/engineers in the group to increase knowledge of P&C substation design.
• Check/review other personnel work for accuracy and adherence to client standards.
• Identify potential areas of engineering process and/or procedure improvements.
