The OpportunityA global Tier 1 automotive supplier with 60+ plants and 7,000 employees worldwide is adding a Quality Engineer to its Chattanooga operation specializing in formed plastics. You'll own quality from APQP through process sign-off, serving as the critical link between customers, suppliers, and internal manufacturing teams. - Lead Advanced Quality Planning (APQP) from new program launch through production-ready sign-off
- Own PPAP preparation, submission, and maintenance in alignment with individual customer requirements
- Drive root cause analysis and corrective action using 8D and related problem-solving methodologies
- Serve as the primary quality liaison between customers and suppliers — including Ford, Toyota, and VW
- Implement and maintain TS16949/IATF compliance, documentation, and all AIAG best practices
- Conduct statistical analysis (SPC) on production data to identify and drive quality improvements
- Manage gauge and fixture calibration schedules and develop shop floor work instructions
- Coordinate engineering changes and track program timing through all phases using standard project methodology
- Lead quality reviews, author meeting minutes, and manage all internal and external program communications
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Purchasing, Engineering, Production, and Inspection teams
- Solid Tier 1 or Tier 2 automotive supplier experience as a Quality Engineer — required
- Hands‑on knowledge of APQP, PFMEA, Control Plans, PPAP, SPC, GD&T, and Capability Analysis (Gage R&R)
- Working knowledge of TS16949/IATF 16949 and VDA system requirements
- Experience managing customer‑specific requirements for OEMs including Ford, Toyota, and Volkswagen
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to lead cross‑functional teams and mentor others
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with MPACT software a plus
- Lead auditor certification is an asset
- CQE (Certified Quality Engineer) designation preferred but not required
- Degree or diploma in a related discipline, or equivalent automotive manufacturing experience
- Willingness to travel as needed
