Electrical Designer or Engineer

Role Description The Electrical Designer or Engineer will work on the design and documentation of electrical systems for commercial, institutional, and industrial projects. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing drawings and specifications, performing load calculations, coordinating power distribution and lighting layouts, and collaborating with mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection disciplines. The role involves working closely with project managers and other team members to ensure designs meet client requirements, codes, and standards while maintaining project schedules and budgets.

This is a full-time, on-site position based in Chattanooga, TN, requiring regular interaction with colleagues and occasional visits to project sites for coordination and field verification.

• Strong skills in Electrical Design, including development of power, lighting, and low-voltage system layouts.
• Solid understanding of Electricity fundamentals and applicable codes and standards (e.g., NEC).
• Proficiency in Electrical Engineering principles related to building systems and coordination with other disciplines.
• Experience with Power Distribution, including panel schedules, one-line diagrams, and equipment selection.
• Knowledge of Power Systems analysis, such as short-circuit studies, load flow, and protective device coordination.
• Relevant technical degree in electrical engineering or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Familiarity with CAD/BIM software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) for producing construction documents.
• Ability to interpret design standards, construction documents, and client requirements with attention to detail.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate across multiple disciplines.
• Ability to manage time, handle multiple projects, and meet deadlines in an on-site office environment.
