Salary Range: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00/year
Responsibilities- Support Chattanooga Goodwill’s Mission, Vision, and Values through consistent actions and decision-making.
- Maintain agency, employee, and participant confidentiality.
- Attend duties punctually and dependably.
- Financial Management:
Oversee day‑to‑day financial operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger; develop and implement financial policies and procedures; monitor cash flow, budgeting and forecasting; provide regular financial reports to CFO and stakeholders. - Accounting and Reporting:
Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and nonprofit standards; manage the year‑end audit process and maintain complete records. - Compliance and Internal Controls:
Establish and maintain strong internal controls; monitor changes to accounting standards; collaborate with the VP of Finance to ensure company‑wide policy adherence. - Strategic Financial Planning and Analysis:
Support the VP of Finance with long‑term planning, forecasting and strategic decision making; conduct financial analysis and modeling for new initiatives and grant proposals; provide insights and recommendations to drive growth. - Grants and Contracts:
Oversee financial management of grants and contracts, including budgeting, reporting and compliance; collaborate with Workforce Development staff to track grant‑funded activities. - Team Leadership and Development:
Lead the accounting team, supervise, train and mentor staff; conduct performance evaluations and set goals; promote continuous improvement and leverage technology to streamline operations. - Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; a master’s degree or CPA certification is highly preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years nonprofit financial management experience with progressive responsibility.
- Excellent knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards.
- Deep understanding of nonprofit financial operations, including revenue recognition, expense allocation, fund accounting, and financial statement analysis.
- Knowledge of nonprofit‑specific accounting software and tools; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel).
- Familiarity with nonprofit regulations such as Form 990 filings, IRS requirements for tax‑exempt organizations, and grant compliance.
- Experience managing financial aspects of government contracts, grants, and donor‑funded programs.
- Familiarity with financial management best practices and trends in the nonprofit sector.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills; ability to interpret complex financial data and provide meaningful insights.
- Ability to adapt to a fast‑paced and evolving nonprofit environment, demonstrating flexibility, resilience and a commitment to continuous improvement.
