Senior Financial Analyst, NA Transportation Facilities Capex, North America Transportation Building and Real Estate

Job :  |  Services LLC

North America (NA) Transportation includes all "Middle Mile" business units that transport packages to their final destination regions along with all "Last Mile" delivery services, responsible for delivering packages to households and businesses across North America. Our finance team closely partners to support these rapidly expanding businesses while building an extensive portfolio of stations, vans, and technology to deliver customers' packages on time - often next day, sometimes faster.

You will make history as you help build a diverse set of businesses at one of the largest carriers on the planet. NA Transportation Finance seeks a Senior Financial Analyst to support our Facilities Capex Finance team. NA Transportation offers opportunities to grow your career as you engage on one of the many facets of this world‑class supply chain network.

From here, you will have the opportunity to rotate to other functional areas or roles across Amazon's portfolio of businesses.

As a Senior Financial Analyst on the NA Transportation CAPEX Finance team, you will be foundational to the team's success, as primary owner of financial modeling, decision support, productivity metrics, and financial/operational reporting. This role will partner with multiple stakeholders within both finance and the business to evaluate and drive investment decisions in new equipment, building upgrades, and process enhancements in our existing assets.

The role will provide extensive cross‑functional opportunities to partner with teams including the Engineering, Design, Real Estate and Planning teams. The role will help solve complex, unstructured problems as we grow and develop the network. A typical day in this role provides an opportunity to innovate by building scalable, robust, and dependable solutions through data‑driven decision making.

Success in this role requires you to partner with and influence business owners, support thoughtful decision‑making, and adapt to an ever‑changing environment. You will collaborate with all types of stakeholders, from other finance analysts to program/project managers to executives, across multiple business units within Amazon. You will bring best‑in‑class business partnership while providing strong controllership. You are comfortable leading variance analysis deep dives, presenting to business owners during reviews, and can pivot between the defined financial rhythms and ad‑hoc project analyses.

You use judgement to prioritise high‑priority work and projects that maximise results for key stakeholders, while helping to solve complex problems that affect company‑wide decisions.

Key job responsibilities

  • Partner with Engineering, Real Estate, and Construction teams to develop robust, data‑driven modelling and analytics to forecast Capital investments and support building upgrades.
  • Work with a variety of data sources. Identify incomplete or inaccurate data, identify root causes of data issues, elevate discrepancies, fix data where possible and partner to deliver a solution.
  • Use active listening skills intuitively to communicate data (both written and verbal) in a clear, concise, and unambiguous manner. Adjust style for various audiences to articulate complex finance issues clearly.
  • Identify and implement solutions to resolve, improve, automate, standardise, or simplify finance processes.
  • Make thoughtful time‑management decisions independently. Prioritise work, resolve issues, meet deadlines, and seek feedback from your manager. Discern between urgent and non‑urgent issues and act accordingly to solve them.
  • Drive own self‑development in the Finance Community: seek opportunities to expand finance expertise. Participate in events, initiatives, and projects, then share gained knowledge in and outside of your team.
  • Contribute to work life harmony by being a positive, collaborative, and effective influencer to new team members as an indicator of operations excellence.
